Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, a type of cannabinoid that occurs naturally in cannabis plants. There are over 100 different kinds of these cannabinoids, but CBD and THC are the most well known. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis, and causes the sensation of getting “high” that’s often associated with smoking marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is NOT psychoactive. Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant, Cannabis sativa, but the two are very different. Industrial hemp is not legally classified as marijuana due to its extremely low THC content (<0.03%).

The human body is actually designed to receive CBD, and contains what is called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS is involved in regulating a variety of homeostatic functions including sleep, appetite, pain and immune system response. The body produces endocannabinoids itself, but also has two receptors for cannabinoids, called the CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are mainly found throughout the brain, while CB2 receptors are found primarily in the immune system. Research has discovered that CBD may work to reduce pain in two ways: by changing the way your body interprets the pain from your brain, and by lowering and preventing inflammation in the body.

Are your products third party tested?

Yes. Our hemp is third party lab tested throughout the entire growing process, as well as our soil quality and our final products. We third party lab test for cannabinoid profiles, soil quality, heavy metals, and any contaminants. This lab testing ensures that we are within federal THC level requirements, and that we are bringing you a clean, high quality product that has accurately measured CBD levels.

Is your hemp organic?

Our hemp is not technically Certified USDA Organic, but it is grown using organic practices. We do not use herbicides, pesticides, or insecticides. Our final products contain no preservatives, and are flavored using only organic essential oils.

Are your products vegan?

Yes, our products are 100% vegan. Zero animal products are used in any of our products, or at any point in the processing.

Is your product an isolate?

No, our CBD oil is obtained through CO2 extraction methods. This is one of the safest, cleanest extraction techniques available that provides broad spectrum cannabinoid profiles. Our CBD Live Resin (capsules) is obtained directly from the plant, without the use of heat, heavy chemical solvents, or preservatives.

Not only does the isolation process remove many important and beneficial secondary cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, obtaining a CBD isolate also involves heavy chemical solvents that often leave residues on the final product.

Does your product contain THC?

Our hemp is compliant with the federal laws for industrial hemp growing, which states that in order to be classified as industrial hemp, there must be <0.03% THC. This is a trace amount of THC and is classified as non-psychoactive. The majority of non-isolate CBD products contain a trace amount of THC.

Will the use of your products show up on a drug test?

We cannot guarantee that our products will not show up on a THC drug test. It depends on the dosage, however, trace amounts of THC can very rarely produce a positive on a drug test. If you are taking large dosages of our products, you may want to alert your company’s HR department that you are using a legal hemp product. A simple referral from your doctor can solve any misunderstandings.

What is the legal status of CBD?

In 2003, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services was issued a patent on CBD – along with other active cannabinoids – for its use as a neuroprotectant therapy. This seemed like good news that the government finally acknowledged CBD as an effective medicine, however, it was not removed from the list of Scheduled narcotics. Thanks to the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, Hemp has been removed from the list of scheduled narcotics, and is now federally legal in all states. Keep in mind, industrial hemp is classified as such due to its low THC content (<0.03%).

CBD has gotten a lot of attention in the media for it’s treatment of epilepsy. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration approved the new cannabis derived drug, Epidiolex, for the treatment of certain types of severe epilepsy. Epidiolex will only be available by prescription, not to the general public. We are not sure what the future holds in terms of FDA regulation in the CBD industry, but hopefully it will lead to safer, cleaner products on the market, and fewer legal restrictions for industrial hemp farmers.

Can I give your CBD to my pets?

We recommend our natural flavor CBD oil for pets. Our cinnamint flavor contains peppermint and cinnamon essential oils, which may be irritating to some cats and dogs stomachs. The general pet dosage varies from a couple of drops to up to 2mg per 10lbs weight. We recommend dropping it on food or a small treat, and starting with smaller doses to gauge your pet’s reaction. There are no set CBD dosing guidelines for people or pets, so please consult your trusted vet if you have any concerns about your pet’s medical conditions or drug interactions.
